The newly formed Proteostasis (Protein Homeostasis) Scientific Interest Group will host a one-day symposium sponsored by NIAAA, NIA, and NIH SIGs. International experts will address the health consequences of protein misfolding and aggregation that may underlie a variety of chronic human disorders including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, type 2 diabetes, cardiomyopathy, cystic fibrosis, and aging. Potential therapeutic applications targeting the proteostasis network will also be discussed. The symposium is free and open to all those interested in proteostasis.
