Skin-Muscle Interface
A 3D color projection of the developing skin-muscle interface of an embryonic mouse forelimb stained for LAMA1, a basement membrane. Understanding how the limb develops can help engineer new options to treat musculoskeletal injuries. This image was a winner in the 2020 BioArt Scientific Image and Video Competition of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. This photo was submitted by Sarah Lipp, a graduate student at Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana), and Sarah Calve, associate professor at the University of Colorado Boulder (Boulder, Colorado) and an adjunct associate professor at Purdue.
