Research Topics

Dr. Jones' clinical research interests include a broad array of strategies for Radiation Dose Management for the Clinical Center patients including testing of low dose CT equipment, improving documentation and utilization of patient radiation dose information, and improving strategies for training staff and educating patients, clinicians and the public about radiation.

Her translational research interests include development and testing of the clinical applications of innovative imaging technologies such as photon counting CT and low field strength MRI.

Dr. Jones' priorities for Radiology and Imaging Sciences include improving the patient experience, enhancing operational effectiveness and safety, and increasing departmental visibility by expanding research collaborations in new areas such as artificial Intelligence and precision medicine.

Biography

Dr. Jones completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, in 1979. She earned her Doctorate in Medicine from Duke University in 1985. After serving an Internship in Medicine at the Boston University Affiliated Hospitals, 1985-86, she completed a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology in 1986-90 and a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging in 1991, at Emory University. She has been Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology since 1990. In 2000, Dr. Jones completed her MPH at Johns Hopkins University and in 2009 her MBA from the University of Maryland's Smith School of Business.

She came to the Clinical Center in 1992. She has held numerous leadership positions in the Radiology department since 2000, for which she has received The NIH Director's and the Clinical Center Director's awards including Chair of Quality and Safety Committee, Associate Director for Clinical Operations, Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Site Director and Acting Chief of Clinical Radiology. She is currently the Director of Radiology and Imaging Sciences.
