Cooking Up New Treatments for Mental Health Challenges

Cooking fuels not only the body but also the mind. Siobhan Lawler, a postdoctoral fellow in the Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health, explores how this everyday activity can improve peoples’ mental health after a stressful event. Through her research, she hopes to develop cooking-based therapies that bring children and adults to the kitchen to help them recover from traumatic experiences that occurred earlier in their lives.
